The Process

How auto transport works

From quote to delivery, here's what to expect when you ship with Ironclad.

01

Get an Instant Quote

Enter your pickup ZIP, delivery ZIP, vehicle details, and preferred transport type. Our pricing engine calculates a real price in under 60 seconds — no form submission to a salesperson required.

02

Book & Pay Securely

Confirm your quote and pay the deposit online. Your booking is locked in and confirmed immediately. We accept all major cards — no ACH delays.

03

We Dispatch Your Vehicle

We post your shipment to our carrier network and find the best available carrier for your route, timing, and transport type. You'll receive dispatch confirmation with carrier details.

04

Pickup, Transit, Delivery

The carrier picks up your vehicle and transports it to the destination. Both pickup and delivery require a signature and condition inspection. We follow up to confirm safe delivery.

Pricing Guide

What affects your auto transport price?

Seven factors determine your quote. Understanding them helps you make the right choice for your budget and timeline.

1

Distance

Longer routes generally cost more in total, but the per-mile rate is often lower for cross-country shipments than short regional moves.

2

Vehicle Size & Type

Larger vehicles (trucks, SUVs, vans) take up more carrier space and may add cost. Oversized vehicles like lifted trucks or large RVs cost more than standard sedans.

3

Transport Type

Open transport is the most affordable option. Enclosed transport costs more because the trailer holds fewer vehicles and offers additional protection.

4

Running Condition

Inoperable vehicles require special equipment (winches, flatbeds) to load. Carriers charge more for non-running vehicles because of the additional labor and equipment.

5

Season & Demand

Summer and snowbird season (October–January on the Florida–Midwest corridor) see higher demand and slightly higher prices. Midweek bookings are often cheaper.

6

Pickup Flexibility

Flexible pickup dates give carriers more options to route your vehicle efficiently. Tight date windows may narrow the carrier pool and increase the price.

7

Fuel Costs

National diesel prices directly affect carrier rates. Our quotes reflect current fuel indexes — we don't hold low prices to win your business and then charge surcharges later.

Ironclad Auto Transportation is a licensed auto transport broker, not a carrier. All vehicles are transported by independent licensed motor carriers. Quotes are estimates based on current market rates and are subject to carrier availability. Final price is confirmed at booking.
