Inoperable Vehicle Shipping
We ship vehicles that don't run
Non-running car? Seized brakes? Won't roll? We work with carriers equipped with winches and flatbed equipment to load and transport inoperable vehicles safely.
Important
Why disclosure matters for inoperable vehicles
Please disclose the condition accurately when requesting a quote.
Carriers match their equipment to the job. If a carrier arrives expecting a running vehicle and finds an inoperable one, they cannot load it and must leave — this results in a failed pickup, potential rescheduling fees, and delay. Accurate upfront disclosure ensures the right carrier with the right equipment is dispatched from the start.
Not all carriers are equipped to handle inoperable vehicles. Standard car haulers assume vehicles will roll on and off the trailer under their own power. Inoperable vehicles require one of the following:
- A carrier with a hydraulic winch to pull the vehicle onto the trailer
- A flatbed carrier for vehicles that cannot roll at all
- For enclosed transport, a trailer with a lift gate or ground-level loading
We identify which type of equipment is needed at quote time and filter our carrier search accordingly.
What we need to know about your vehicle
Does it start?
A vehicle that starts but cannot move under its own power is still inoperable.
Does it roll?
If the wheels roll freely (even without engine power), loading is simpler. If brakes are seized, a winch is required.
Does it steer?
A vehicle that rolls but can't steer requires additional maneuvering at pickup and delivery.
Tire condition
Flat tires complicate loading significantly. Disclose if any tires are flat or missing.
Ground clearance
For winch loading, ground clearance affects the approach angle. Very low clearance vehicles may need a specific flatbed setup.
Overall dimensions
Lifted trucks, oversized vehicles, or vehicles with body damage may affect carrier compatibility.
